We visited a client in the Kluczbork district within the Opole Voivodeship. A LINDE forklift (4.1L engine) experienced issues with the DPF and EGR systems, which triggered error codes in the ECU and sudden transitions into limp mode, making planned loading and logistics work impossible. On site, we carried out efficient diagnostics and successful electronics repair based on the BOSCH EDC17CV52 ECU. The intermittent problem was permanently resolved, and the machine regained its full efficiency and returned to daily operation.

What causes DPF filter and EGR valve failures in this model?

Malfunctions in the exhaust emission control system typically stem from the specifics of forklift operation, which frequently run at variable or low RPM. Under such conditions, soot accumulates in the DPF filter much faster, and the automatic regeneration process cannot complete properly due to exhaust gas temperatures being too low. Additionally, the EGR valve gets clogged with carbon buildup, causing the mechanism regulating exhaust gas recirculation to jam. As a result, the engine control unit registers critical errors, cutting power and interrupting machine operation.

• Limitations in the soot regeneration process during short engine duty cycles.

• Failure of sensors monitoring pressure differential and exhaust gas temperature.

• Blocking of the exhaust gas recirculation valve due to carbon accumulation.

• Restriction of airflow through the carbon-fouled intake manifold.

How is DPF OFF and EGR OFF performed in a LINDE FORKLIFT?

Modifying the engine control unit software and mechanical intervention in the exhaust equipment allow for the complete elimination of recurring errors. We perform full electronic diagnostics using a computer, reading the fault codes stored in the memory of the BOSCH EDC17CV52. Next, we modify the control software content, disabling the filter and recirculation valve management procedures. In the following step, we remove the DPF filter core and replace it with a service filter, as well as disconnect the electrical installation and lines of the worn-out EGR valve. We verify correct engine operation and the absence of fault codes after completing all service work.
